One of the primary aims of BJD-INDIA:NAN is to promote, supervise, monitor, collaborate and conduct Research activities in the field of Rheumatic musculoskeletal diseases with special emphasis on population based studies and the rural underdeveloped regions in India. To achieve this, the BJD-INDIA: NAN independently / jointly began sponsoring research projects related to BJD topics in 2003.

BJD India adopted WHO-ILAR COPCORD Bhigwan Model to launch several population based survey to determine the prevalence and distribution of rheumatic musculoskeletal disorder. Several sites has completed their surveys.
