Mission Arthritis India (MAI), a
patient support group, is one of the founder members of BJD
- INDIA: National Action Network and is actively involved in
promoting and propagating the health education objectives.
The primary goal of MAI is to provide relevant information and
guidance to the patients suffering from various rheumatic musculoskeletal
disorders (RMSD). This is being achieved through news media
and public meetings. A quarterly newsletter
and an annual health magazine
edited by Dr. Kalindi Phadke (Co-Chairperson, MAI), is published
by MAI.
BJD India conducts several CME programs to update
the subject of bone and joint disorders for the medical community.
Meetings have been held in Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Nagpur,
Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad & Patna.
One of the primary goals of the BJD is to measure disease burden.
Epidemiological data on RMSD in India is dismally sparse. In
fact there are large information gaps about these disorders
in the Indian scenario. BJD India: NAN has prioritised this
goal in its research agenda and several
studies have been launched to acquire the data. However, this
website will continuously update the relevant and appropriate
information on the disease burden
of RMSD in the Indian context. |
